High-Pressure CO₂ Extinguishing System
Carbon dioxide is stored as a liquid in high-pressure steel cylinders and, when released, lowers the oxygen level below what combustion needs while also providing some cooling. Because extinguishing concentrations are hazardous to people, it is used in normally unoccupied areas such as generator rooms, transformer and turbine enclosures, cable galleries and industrial machinery.
