Gas Suppression Systems
Inert Gas System (IG-541 / IG-55 / Argon / Nitrogen)
Naturally occurring gases such as nitrogen, argon and carbon dioxide, alone or blended, extinguish fire by reducing the oxygen level in the protected room to a point where combustion cannot continue. With zero ozone and climate impact, they are used in data centres, archives and control rooms, and selector valves allow one cylinder bank to protect several rooms.
- Agent
- IG-541 (N₂/Ar/CO₂), IG-55 (N₂/Ar), IG-01 (Ar), IG-100 (N₂)
- Extinguishing mechanism
- Oxygen dilution (to roughly 12–14 % O₂)
- Typical design / discharge
- ~35–50 % v/v · 60 s (up to 120 s for Class A/C)
- Standards
- EN 15004-7…10 · ISO 14520-12…15 · NFPA 2001
